Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI) announced it will be the exclusive sponsor of SportAccord International Convention 2010. It will also participate in the event, to be held on April 25-30 at The Atlantis hotel, Dubai.
The sporting convention, to be held for the first time in the Middle East, is the most important in the world, bringing together world, sports and political personalities such as former UN Secretary Kofi Annan, Rio de Janeiro Mayor Eduardo Paes, FIFA President Joseph Platter, former Olympic swimming champion Ian Thorpe among others. The unique event brings together decision-makers in international sport and represents an ideal point of convergence for sports federations around the world to exchange ideas and information and work together to achieve the best practices in sport management.
DMI managing Director, Ahmad Abdalla Al Shaikh, said: “Dubai Media Incorporated is always keen to employ tools and channels for promoting Dubai initiatives and to contribute to spread Dubai's image, local and international achievements at the continental and international levels in line with the strategic objectives of the Government of Dubai.”
Al Shaikh added: “SportAccord comes at a time of a great deal of controversy and consultation around the world regarding the relation between governments and sports, especially since 2010 is a turning point in the organisation of sporting events with the start of the enforcement of the Treaty of Lisbon in December 2009 by the European Union. Dubai Sports and other channels DMI will exclusively air the event live. Exclusive interviews will be conducted with sports stars and guests of the event. DMI will have a pavilion in the exhibition accompanying SportAccord.
Dubai Sports Channel will allocate a special program includes a number of exclusive interviews and periodic reports on the activities of the conference, as well as Live coverage for the opening ceremony of the event.
Through its English programmes, Out & About, Twenty Something, Dubai Tonight, World of Sports and Emirates News, Dubai One channel also broadcasts reports and presents exclusive interviews with senior participating dignitaries, in addition to an exclusive interview with Indian cricket captain, Rahul Draved, hosted by Rebecca McLaughlin.
Dubai TV highlights the event’s activities Live through Dubai this Morning, Sports World, Diary of Dubai and Emirates News programs. While Sama Dubai channel presents the event through Al Marsa and Sabah Al Khair Ya Biladi programs.
Sportaccord annually brings representatives from the 100 international sports federations affiliated to GAISF (General Association of International Sports Federations), ASOIF (Association of Summer Olympic International Federations) and AIOWF (Association of the International Olympic Winter Sports Federations), as well as the International Olympic Committee Executive Board, together with sponsors, bidding and host cities, architects, sports lawyers, broadcasters, games organising committees, rights holders and other specialists to discuss the key issues facing the sports industry.
