Dubai Media Incorporated, one of the Middle East’s pioneering media organizations and creative services group, today announced it will offer mobile and internet TV services through tie ups with etisalat, du, and Jump TV, allowing viewers to watch their favorite DMI channels anytime, anywhere across the UAE, in tie-ups with the Emirates Telecommunications Corporation "Etisalat", Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company, "du" and Jump TV.
DMI viewers can also tune in to their favourite shows and programmes through its website www.dmi.ae via the Jump TV service. The website will allow users to access and search or even download shows/episodes for viewing, watching again or even forwarding to friends. With a customized user experience, easy navigation, and superior video quality, the website offers a comprehensive selection of popular content from Dubai TV, Sama Dubai, Dubai One, and Dubai Racing.
Speaking at a press conference at Raffles Hotel, Dubai, Ahmad Al Shaikh, DMI Managing Director, said the tie ups will allow users with 3G-enabled handsets to watch live streaming of DMI news, sport and entertainment channels.
Ahmad Al Shaikh said: “DMI’s sophisticated move ushers in a new era of modern and advanced technology, underscoring our presence as a pioneering broadcasting entity on the local and regional level. We believe the strength of the DMI brand and its status as a global distribution platform are ideal to tap into Arabic-speaking communities around the world. Through our tie-ups with du and etisalat, we seek to offer our viewers an opportunity to stay close to DMI wherever they are, and whenever they wish to.
“The success of this endeavor will no doubt pave the way for enhanced services in the future that bring some of the best pan-Arab broadcasting content to a wider global audience.”
Provided by etisalat, internet streaming of on-demand content “VOD” from any of DMI’s channels can be accessed through DMI’s website, which provides a customized user experience, easy navigation, superior video quality and a comprehensive selection of popular content from Dubai TV, Sama Dubai, Dubai One, and Dubai Racing.
Osman Sultan, CEO, du, said: “The telecom sector is today witnessing a tremendous change where communication channels such as Internet and television are converging. Now we can access information and entertainment anytime and anywhere through new media. We are confident that the DMI’s new initiative will revolutionize the concept of broadcast media.”
“du” provides 23 TV channels through its mobile TV service, including Dubai TV, Sama Dubai and Dubai Sports. Subscribers can choose between 3 packages tailored to their needs. Non subscribers can also watch free clips of TV content available via their mobile phones.
As one of the world’s largest internet television carrier, Jump TV provides several features, the most notable being its ability to be used by broadcasters to get their content out to viewers through devices such as desktop computers, laptops, handhled PCs, as well as mobiles phones and standalone satellite internet kiosks.
Ali Al Ahmed, Executive Vice-President of Planning and Strategy at etisalat, said: “Our marketing strategy focuses on providing up to date and advanced technology to both our individual and business customers, and offering added value for their money.
“This new service aims to provide our customers with more flexibility to watch their favorite DMI channels. We believe mobile and internet TV mark a step towards the future of content provision in offering a completely unique and brand new experience. There is a huge market for people in need of such services which gives the freedom of accessibility at any given time.”
Al Ahmed indicated that Mobile TV from etisalat has so far been one of the most successful services offered locally and regionally, boasting the highest usage with 300,000 subscriber base in the region.
He added: “Through our tie up with DMI, we are scaling new horizons of success, even while providing services that match our customers’ fast-paced lifestyles.”
